We've been through a lot these past couple of years. COVID has not gone away - not at all - but we are beginning to live with it.
To do this, we need to be at the top of our game, physically and mentally. So, for this year's Men's Health Week, which runs 13-19 June it's time for you, me and men everywhere, to give ourselves an MOT.
We asked Ryan May, Assisstant Case Manager at Circle Case Management, what his take on men's mental and physical health is and is enough being done?
What is something that you do to help your mental wellbeing?
What soothes me most is immersing myself in the countryside on walks and hikes.
Modernity has made the world busy and disquieting and has thrown up real mental barriers when it comes to men (and women) according with nature.
What is something that you do to help your physical health?
I regularly attend the gym during the week, and I play squash every other weekend.
'It is exercise alone that supports the spirits, and keeps the mind in vigor' - Cicero
Would you consider having a MOT with a health professional?
I would be open to having a medical health check.
Do you have any tips to support other men with their physical or mental health?
Involve yourself in life affirming activities and accept support from friends and family members.
Do you think men receive enough direct support?
No, I do not.
